Recent visitors to the site would have noted that the ex-weapons research station is now available as an undercover space for use by visiting diving groups. The station includes a training area with table and chairs, bbq facilities, change room and a basic kitchenette with microwave and kettle. Toilets will also be installed in the near future.
The ground level area surrounding the sinkhole has been landscaped, with irrigation systems and pathways installed which link the station with the sinkhole ramp. A large grassed area now creates a fantastic space for picnics and a car parking area has also been created on the southern side of the site.
The platform above the sinkhole has been removed which, to the delight of divers, has increased the presence of light beams into the sinkhole during the summer months, and plans are in place for a new ground level viewing platform in the future.
